• 1 cup all-purpose flour for dredging
• 1/3 cup vegetable oil
• 1 ½ cups diced onion
• 1 cup diced scallions
• ½ cup red wine vinegar
• 3 cups hot water
• 4 cups crushed canned Italian plum tomatoes
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
• 1 pound spaghetti
