Ingredients

• 2 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
• 1 cup (2 sticks) plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
• 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup pumpkin pureé
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 1 pound pitted dates (about 3 cups) roughly chopped
• 1 cup chopped pecans toasted
