- 1 1/2 cups medium-grind cornmeal (I like Bob's Red Mill brand)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (use 2 if you like sweet corn bread)
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 egg
