• 1-3/4 cups granulated sugar
• 5 large eggs
• 2 TB milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
• 1/2 tsp nutmeg, grated
• 1/4 tsp cloves, ground
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 3 cups flour
• 2 quarters, washed
• 2 TB powdered, sparkling or turbinado sugar
• 2 TB sliced almonds (optional)
