French Onion Soup au Gratin Stuffed Meatballs recipe - from the Our Family Recipes Family Cookbook

Ingredients

• For the onions:
• 2 Onions thinly sliced
• 1 1/2 tsp Olive oil
• 1 Tbsp Fresh thyme
• 1/4 cup Beef broth
• 1/4 cup Red wine
• Salt and pepper to taste
• For the meatballs:
• 1 1/2 lbs Ground beef
• 1 Egg
• 1/4 cup Bread crumbs
• 1 Tbsp Fresh Parsley
• 1 tsp Salt
• 1 1/4 tsp Pepper
• 3 Mozzarella string cheese cut into half-inch cubes
• For the Sauce:
• 1/4 cup Red wine (You can substitute more beef broth if you do not want to use the wine)
• 1 3/4 cups Beef broth
• 2 Tbsp Cornstarch
• 8oz Shredded mozzarella cheese
