Ingredients

• 3 cups apple cider
• 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
• 1⁄2 cup sugar
• 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
• 2 1⁄2 cups flour, plus more for rolling dough
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 cup butter, chilled and cubed
• 1⁄3-1⁄2 cup cold water
• 2 cups leaf lard for frying
