• 1/4 cup canola oil
• 2 pounds stew beef, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
• 2 medium onions, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
• 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
• 1 cup beef broth
• 3 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
• 3 tablespoons chili powder
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
• 3 (16 ounce) cans black beans, drained
