Ingredients

  • 9 ounces French fried onions (I like the prepared cans from good grocery stores)
  • 2 tablespoons plus one teaspoon salt divided
  • 1-pound fresh green beans, rinsed, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 12 ounces mushrooms, trimmed and cut into ½ inch pieces (about 20 medium cremini mushrooms)
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon thyme, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces of organic cream of mushroom soup (pacific organic condensed cream of mushroom soup is a favorite)
  • ½ cup chicken stock
