Ham & Cheese Sarnie - James Martin Chef
A treat of a Ham & Cheese sarnie. Hollowed out bread loaf, filled with cheese sauce, ham and tomato. Bake and serve or dig in straight away!
Ingredients
- 1 round dough loaf, hollowed out
- Salt and pepper
- 12 slices of thick cut ham
- 4 tomatoes, sliced
- ½ an onion
- 3 cloves
- 1 bay leaf
- 100g butter
- 50g plain flour
- 500ml full fat milk
- 400g cheddar cheese, grated
- Preheat the oven to 170C
- To make the sauce, warm the onion, cloves and milk. Then, heat the butter and add the flour. Follow by adding the milk, whisking all the time. Finish by adding the cheese, and season.
- To assemble the sarnie, layer up the bread with cheese, tomatoes and ham.
- Bake in the oven for 35-40 mins or you can serve it up straight away without baking.
- Slice and serve.
