• 1 stick unsalted butter, melted, plus more for baking dish
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into small wedges
• 1 lemon, juiced
• 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
• Pinch ground nutmeg
• Pinch salt
• 1/4 cup apple brandy (recommended: Calvados)
• 1 loaf brioche bread, crusts discarded and bread cubed
