Ingredients

• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup mashed potatoes (not sweet potatoes)
• 4 eggs
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• ½ cup cocoa
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• ½ cup milk
• 1 cup chopped pecans (if desired)
