A hearty pie for a comforting supper. For a variation, try adding carrots or other root vegetables.
Ingredients
- 900g/2lb braising steak, cubed
- 1kg/2lb 4oz potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 litres/3½ pints beef stock
- pinch salt
- 450g/1lb plain flour
- 115g/4oz margarine
- 115g/4oz lard, cubed
- about 8 tbsp sparkling water
- 1 free-range egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp milk
