Ingredients

• 1 quart peeled and chopped ripe tomatoes
• 1 cup chopped onion
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tablespoon pickling spices
• Chopped hot pepper to taste (optional)
