Ingredients

• 6 apples, peeled (optional), cores removed, sliced thin
• 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
• 1/4 c. maple syrup
• 2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
• 1 tbsp. ground clove
• 1/2 tbsp. nutmeg
• 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
• pinch salt
• 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, cold, chopped up
• 1 c. dark brown sugar
• 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
• 1 1/2 c. old fashioned oats
