• 2 pounds beef chuck, cut in cubes
• 4 cups boiling water
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• 2 tablespoons fat
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
• 1 medium size onion
• 1 clove garlic
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 12 small potatoes
• 1 teaspoon paprika
• 6 carrots, quartered
• dash of allspice
