• 1/2 cup (125 ml) plus 2 tablespoons (30 ml) light brown sugar firmly packed, divided
• 1/4 cup (60 ml) plus 2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple brown sugar flavoured finishing sugar divided
• 1 3/4 cups (415 ml) all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
• 1/2 tsp (2 ml) baking powder
• 1/4 tsp (1 ml) baking soda
• 1/2 cup (1 stick/113 grams) unsalted butter softened
• 1 egg
• 2 tsps (10 ml) pure vanilla extract
• 1/4 cup (60 ml) finely chopped pecans
