Apple Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients

• 4 cups granny smith apples
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup sour cream
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 1 batch empanada dough (see below)
• canned evaporated milk or egg white
• cinnnamon-sugar mixture (1 teaspoon ground cinnamon mixed with 1/4 cup sugar)
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
