• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter , cold and diced
• 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
• 4 ounces semisweet chocolate , finely chopped or chips
• ½ cup heavy cream
• 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup corn syrup (light or dark based on preference)
• ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 3 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted and slightly cooled
• 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 cups pecan halves
