Tres Leches Cake – Simmer + Sauce

Ingredients

• For the Cake:
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• Pinch of Kosher salt
• 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
• 1 1/4 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup milk
• For the Tres Leches Sauce:
• One (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
• One (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
• 1/2 cup heavy cream
• 2 tablespoons rum
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• For the Icing:
• 1 pint heavy cream
• 3-4 tablespoons Confectioners' sugar
