Apple and Dried Cherry Strudel – Anolon

Ingredients

• 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
• 4 golden delicious apples, 1 3/4 pounds, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
• 1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon sugar, divided
• 1/4 cup dried tart cherries, chopped
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
• 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
• 10 sheets phyllo dough, (14 x 9-inch)
• 3 tablespoons cornflake crumbs
• sweetened whipped cream for serving , optional
