• 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
• 1 cup sour cream (maas)
• 1 cup chopped dates
• 2 cups Safari cake mix
• ½ cup chopped glazed cherries
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 2 cups all-purpose flour (divided into ¼ cup and 1¾ cups)
• 113g (½) cup butter
• 1 cup normal white sugar
• 1 large egg
• Grated rind of one orange
• 1 teaspoon fine
