Ingredients

• 3/4 cup (180 ml) water
• 3/4 cup (135 g) dates, pitted and halved
• 1 cup (150 g) unbleached all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 egg
• 3/4 cup (160 g) brown sugar
• 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla
• 3 tbsp (45 ml) vegetable oil
• 3 tbsp (45 ml) almond butter (see note)
• 3 tbsp (45 ml) date molasses (see note)
• 1 tbsp (15 ml) maple syrup
• 1 tsp (5 ml) water
• 1 pinch salt
• 2 tbsp lightly roasted thinly sliced almonds
