- Butter and flour for preparing pans
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 11 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
