• 1 small onion, minced
• 1 1/2 cups light cream or milk
• 1 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 1/2 chicken bouillon or veggie bouillon
