- 110g (½ cup, firmly packed/4oz) brown sugar
- 75g (⅓ cup/2¾oz) caster sugar
- 160g (5¾oz) salted butter, diced
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 2 tablespoons (40ml/1⅓fl oz) water
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon natural vanilla essence or extract
