• ¾ c plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
• Grated zest of ½ lemon
• ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
• ¼ tsp pure almond extract
• ¼ tsp baking powder
• 2 ¼ c all-purpose flour
• 2 ¼ c whole milk
• ½ c sugar
• 1 cinnamon stick
• Zest of 2 lemons, in wide strips
• 6 egg yolks
• ⅓ c cornstarch
• ½ tsp kosher salt
• 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 1 c dried cherries, plumped in ¼ cup hot water and drained (optional)
