• Zayats or Ukrainian Bread: In fact, it is a baked meat dish with salo or vegetables.
• Potaptsi with Tomatoes: It is very tasty Ukrainian appetizer that always comes to help when one is pressed in time. The dish is easy and simple to cook, and it is served hot.
• Chicken Zakolot: This original and mouth-watering meat appetizer can be a good rival to meat jelly. As a rule, it is served with rye bread, mustard and horseradish.
• Liver Paste: It is one of the well-loved entrée of Ukrainian families. The paste can be made with chicken, beef or pork liver, but the most light is the chicken pâté.
• Vegetable Paste: Ukrainian cuisine is rich in vegetable dishes. The vegetable paste can be served as appetizer, spread over bread, as well as a vegetable side dish.
• Plums Mezhivo: The mezhivo is an authentic Ukrainian dish. Besides the vegetable one, there is the fruit mezhivo. It will better compliment the alcoholic beverage but it should be made beforehand.
