Ingredients

• Syrup:
• 1/2 cup golden syrup
• 1/2 cup light muscovado or other unrefined sugar
• 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into chunks
• Dumplings:
• 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into bits
• 2 large eggs
• 1/4 cup milk
