• 1 medium onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup)

• 3 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth (24 fl oz)
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 1/3 cup vodka
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
• 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon zest, finely grated
• 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
• 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
• 1.5 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
