Cuttlefish is a marine mollusk related to squid and octopus, with firm, slightly chewy flesh and a mild, briny flavor similar to squid but more tender when cooked properly. It is used in Mediterranean stews, braises, and pasta dishes, and in Asian stir-fries and soups. Unlike squid, cuttlefish is usually sold with its ink sac intact and is the more common commercial source of what is often labeled "squid ink." It pairs well with tomatoes, garlic, citrus, soy sauce, ginger, and chili.
