Cheap, Tasty, Hot Soup from Your Refrigerator
The best soup doesn't come from a can, it comes from your refrigerator and kitchen cupboards. And it tastes different every time.
Ingredients
- any vegetable oil will do
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- A grated carrot
- A chopped garlic clove or so if you've got it
- 4-8 cups water, depending upon whether you like your soup brothy or chunky
- a teaspoon salt
- chicken or beef bouillon cubes
- a can of tomatoes
- a diced potato or two (leftover hashbrowns work)
- hamburger
- spinach
- peas
- corn
- green beans
- broccoli
- leftover cooked rice or noodles
- cooked, chopped chicken
- uncooked chicken pieces such as tenders or boneless skinless breasts or thighs
- leftover lunchmeat, especially ham and probably not bologna
- pre-cooked Polish Kielbasa
