Ingredients

• 3/4 cup butter or margarine, divided
• 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
• 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot
• 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
• 1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
• 6 Tbs all-purpose flour
• 4 cups whole milk
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/2 lb or 2 cups of shredded sharp pasteurized process American cheese
• 2 cups clear chicken broth
