Chubby Hubby - Simple fare and a great peach cake

• 1/2 cup (108g) firmly packed brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 2/3 (57g) unblanched sliced almonds
• 7 tablespoons (100g) unsalted butter, salted
• 2 cups (242g) all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 (170g) unsalted butter, softened
• 1.25 cups (250g) granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 large egg yolk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
• 3/4 cup (180ml) buttermilk
• 1 heaping cup 1/4 inch thick fresh or frozen peach slices
