Medenki Recipe - Traditional Bulgarian Honey Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1/2 cup dark honey (preferably Bulgarian or wildflower)
• 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp ground ginger
• 1/4 tsp ground cloves
• 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
• Zest of 1 small orange
• 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
• For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
• For the glaze: 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
