Ingredients

• Vegetable oil
• 1lb ground sweet Italian sausage, crumbled
• 1 large yellow onion, diced
• Kosher salt
• Black pepper
• 2 containers sweet tomatoes (Campari or cherry), halved
• 1 box rotini pasta (or any curly noodle variety)*
• 1 cup heavy whipping cream (additional if needed)
• 1 cup half-and-half (additional if needed)
• 1 cup Italian cheese blend (additional if needed)
• 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn into pieces
• Toasted panko breadcrumbs, for garnish**
