Ingredients: 2 tsp salt; 1/2 tsp pepper; 16 very small onions or 4 large onions (quartered); 3-4 cloves garlic (minced); 2 tbsp butter or margarine; 2 tbsp oil; 1/2 lb small mushrooms; 2 tbsp flour; 1 10 oz can beef bouillon; 1 cup dry red wine; 2 tbsp tomato paste; 1 small bay leaf (crumbed); 1 tsp bottled gravy colouring
