Masala Shrimp with Cornmeal Grits (part 2 - the Masala) - Marisolio Tasting Bar
This spicy prawn dish served with cornmeal grits is to die for. Not difficult to make (the hardest part is assembling the spices), but worth the effort.
Ingredients
- Masala
- 4 garlic cloves, grated or minced finely
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated or minced
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala (either store bought or home made: http://tinyurl.com/y8axmqlo
- 2 cups water
- 2 Tablespoons Koroneiki, Portuguese Cobrancosa, or Ultra Premium Picual
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 1 Serrano chile, seeded, sliced lengthwise in half, then each half sliced horizontally in thin slices
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 3/4 cup chopped ripe tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
