Pear and Chocolate Torta

Ingredients

• 250 ml / 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
• 250 ml / 1 cup sugar
• 5 ml / 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
• 500ml / 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 10 ml / 2 tsp baking powder
• 2 eggs
• 8 ripe pears, peeled and cored, each cut in 6 wedges
• 60 g / 2 oz semisweet chocolate, grated, melted
• To taste chocolate shavings
