Citrusy Sambal Sour Cream | Oregonian Recipes
Think of this as a cooling sauce with some kick to dunk seafood and meaty dumplings in. If the dumpling has lime in it, use lime juice here; ditto for lemon....
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 2 to 3 tablespoons Sambal (see link to related recipe in instructions), or 1 tablespoon store-bought
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Freshly squeezed juice of 1/2 medium lime (about 1-1/2 tablespoons) or 1/2 medium lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
- Finely grated zest of 1/2 medium lime (about 1 teaspoon) or lemon (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- Pinch to 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
