My father makes these every year at Christmas, but they are good all year round. The cardamom smell is intoxicating and they make a fantastic dinner roll.

- 1/3 Pound unsalted butter
- 2 1/4 Cups milk
- 2/3 Cups sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
- 2 Tablespoons (2 packets) dry yeast
- 5 1/2 Cups flour
