Nanaimo Slice - Baking with Granny®
Originally from Canada this delicious traybake has biscuit base, speckled with coconut & walnuts, a custard icing filling, and chocolate top.
Ingredients
- 115 g Block Margarine or Butter
- 55 g Soft Light Brown Sugar
- 55 g Cocoa Powder
- 115 g Digestives Biscuits
- 115 g Desiccated Coconut
- 115 g Walnuts (chopped)
- 1 Free-range Egg (beaten; at room temperature; see Egg Size note below)
- 100 g Block Margarine or Butter (at room temperature)
- 4 tbsp Double Cream
- 3 tbsp Custard Powder (see below for substitutions)
- 250 g Icing Sugar
- 200 g Dark Chocolate
- 2 tbsp Block Margarine or Butter
