  • 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (or 2 more tablespoons soy sauce + 1 tablespoon sugar)
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium jalapeño, coarsely chopped
  • 4 cloves smashed garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper
  • ¼ cup chopped Thai (or regular) basil, plus more for garnish
  • 1 ½ pounds meat of your choice, cut into 1 ½-inch cubes
  • 1 pound vegetables of your choice, cut into 1-inch pieces (such as onions, zucchini, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes left whole)
