Chocolate and orange ricotta puffs

- 500 grams firm, fresh ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup (55g) caster (superfine) sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur
- 2 teaspoons orange rind, finely grated
- 1/2 cup (95g) dark choc bits
- 1 cup (150g) plain (all-purpose) flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- vegetable oil, for deep-frying
- icing (confectioners') sugar, for dusting
