Ingredients

• 1 small cabbage, coarsely chopped
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 4 to 6 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
• 4 cups water
• 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
• 1 to 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 pound fully cooked kielbasa or Polish sausage, cut into 1/2-inch pieces, halved
• 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
• 3 large carrots, chopped
• 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
