Spiced Cranberry Sauce with Pears | The Fancy Pants Kitchen

Ingredients

• 1 & 1/2 cups sugar
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 (4-inch) cinnamon stick
• 1 (13-ounce) package fresh cranberries, about 3 cups
• 2 ripe, but not soft, pears, cored and cubed into 1/4″ pieces (about 2 cups)
• 1/2 tsp grated fresh nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp allspice
• 1 tsp brandy or cognac, optional
