• 3 cups strawberries ( or mixed fresh fruit)
• 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1 cup strawberries (mashed, or strawberry purée)
• 1 cup whipping cream (whipped)
• 1/2 cup milk (approximate, see directions for amount)
• 1 lemon (grated rind and juice)
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons shortening
• 2 tablespoons butter
