Brown Butter Apple Pie

Ingredients

• 5 cups tart baking apples (such as Granny Smith, Mutsu, Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
• 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
• 2 store-bought or homemade 9-inch piecrusts
• 4 tablespoons (½ stick) butter
• 1 egg, whisked
• Vanilla or cinnamon ice cream, for serving
