Ingredients

• 175 mL (¾ cup) softened butter
• 175 mL (¾ cup) light brown sugar
• 3 medium eggs, beaten
• 625 mL (2 ½ cups) whole-wheat flour
• 10 mL (2 tsp) baking powder
• 5 mL (1 tsp) ground mixed spices or cinnamon
• 45 mL (3 tbsp) cocoa powder, sifted
• 625 mL (2 ½ cups) peeled, cored and diced cooking apples
• 250 mL (1 cup) golden raisins
• Approximately 90 mL (6 tbsp) milk
• 6 squares (175 g/6 oz) dark chocolate, roughly chopped
