Ingredients

• 1 cup margarine
• 1-1/2 cups sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 3 cups flour
• 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
• Pinch mace, optional
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 tablespoons brandy or liqueur or sweet wine, optional
• 3 cups apples, peeled, cored, chopped or shredded
• 1 cup walnuts, chopped, or pecans
• 1 cup chocolate chips
