• 6 C. (1.5 L) thinly sliced onions (about 4 medium)
• 6 C. (1.5 L) beef broth
• 1 / 2 tsp. (2 mL) hot pepper sauce, divided
• 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) butter or margarine, softened
